Wtf is meditation? Why it is key.

Easy 5-Step Guide to Meditation

Everyone keeps saying, meditate, meditate, meditate... wtf is meditation?

Why does everyone seem to agree it's completely necessary and key to life?

Let me tell you what meditation is for me.

For me, meditation is:

  1. My way of discovering and improving me/my relationship with myself.

  2. A deep breath, a pause in the chaos. Physically grounding and calming.

  3. A moment to be still and listen to what I actually want to say/do beyond what everyone else is telling me.

I see it like this. You are going to be with yourself forever until you die, you either take the steps (you already know you have to) to heal and be kind and have a good time- or- you push everything inside, hoping you are strong enough to hold it all until one day magically it goes away (you don't even believe this yourself and I'll tell you why in a bit).

It does not magically go away; You gotta do the work, the sooner you start, the sooner you'll be better.

Take this as a sign, take this as meant to be, or whatever the you want- but know- the time to start is now and there is nothing else than now so start now.

5 minutes, 10 minutes, whatever minutes you want but show up every single day because at the end of the week, those 5 min daily will become 35 minutes a week and that will change your life.

Also, 5 min daily = 35 min weekly = 155 min / 2.58 hours per month, so just a simple 5-minute meditation is considerably better than 0 mins, AKA I'll start on Monday, AKA thinking about the thing is not doing the thing, AKA 2 hours of doing something is better than 20 hours of thinking about it.

Okay now that you are interested in being better- let me give you a bit of context.

"Everything is energy." (Albert Einstein)

"E-motions are energy in motion. If they are not expressed, the energy is repressed. As energy it has to go somewhere. Emotional energy moves us as does all energy...To deny emotion is to deny the ground and vital energy of our life(John Bradshaw)

"Energy cannot be destroyed; it can only be transformed." (First law of thermodynamics)

As such, meditation is one way you can work on yourself and the release of sh*t/ emotions/ energy you've pilled up if therapy is not an option. Ofc therapy is the fastest way you'll get there, but also, you already hold all the answers inside.

THeRapY. Yes, therapy. Let me also tell you what therapy is for me.

In practical terms- therapy is me ranting about a bunch of stuff for 45 minutes with quick stops just for my therapist to (1) connect the dots, (2) repeat what I just said and (3) make me see things that I might not be seeing.

See- life is just a big fat lesson.

Everything is a lesson, and although you want to participate or not in learning, you will experience it until you learn it. Different people, different places, different scenarios, same lesson until you learn. You know this- it's quite obvious if you just stop and reflect for one second.

Ok so, life is just a bunch of lessons right? So for me,

  1. Therapy serves as a set time each week where I get to stop for one second and think about my current lesson AND learn to overcome it.

  2. Therapy is where I get to release all the sh*t/emotions/energy I have been keeping since I can remember. Opening up space for new, wanted, better things.

  3. Therapy is my biggest commitment to my personal growth and evolution into becoming who I truly aspire to be.

If life is a video game, full of missions (lessons), then therapy is the ultimate card that allows you (1) upgrade, (2) to drop the useless sh*t, (3) discover the skins you truly want, and (4) learn to pass each level to win the game!!!

Because you know that:

  • You can't learn about something you are not paying attention to.

  • You can't find yourself if you are not looking.

  • You can't be better if you are not really trying.

Why so much learning, you might ask- for what? For evolution.

For the betterment of every single one of us.

Just think about our existence and how we have gotten to where we are. It's all about evolution, and now, the ball is in your court because you can now choose to merely survive or to live.

Survive or Thrive: The Choice is Yours

You can choose to survive unconsciously or live awake.

You can choose to survive in fear or live with passion.

You can choose to survive by pushing everything inside or live to let that sh*t go and make space for the new, the better.

You can choose to zombie through life or smell the flowers.

You can choose to be trapped by time or make the most out of it.

You can choose to ignore yourself or find you.

You can choose to continue like everyone or meditate... therapy even!

How fast you will get to where you want is completely up to you.

Your choice, defined by your actions.

FYI, if you are reading this- primitive human survival skills are not needed anymore. Whats next? intelligence. AI has got us covered with a lot of it so whats left? emotional intelligence.

Emotional intelligence that evolves into pure creative intelligence.

I've realized that our deepest fear is realizing how powerful we are and how successful we can be. It is so widely feared that very few see past it and realize it. { Movie rec: Coach Carter (2005) }

How are you supposed to realize how powerful and most significantly WHO you came here to be if you don't even take the time to ask/be with yourself?

Everyone takes the question and time for granted and the only explanation is fear. You are scared to know just how powerful, special, and uniquely amazing you are.

But no worries, there is nothing to fear beyond not actually doing it. I can't imagine dying hoping I did just ask, just be.

Meditate, watch the (U)inverse unfold inside out.

There is no right/wrong way of meditating.

Just do it.

Find yourself, no one is looking.

This is your last chance, start now.

5 mins.
